Fletcher Named C-USA Hitter Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -UAB junior transfer Whitney Fletcher was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week after hitting four home runs, including an inside-the-park home run, last weekend at the University of Kentucky Tournament. It marks the first weekly honor of her career at UAB.
The Decatur, Ala. native, hit four bombs, scored six runs and drove in nine more as UAB swept the University of Kentucky Tournament with a 5-0 mark during the weekend. She batted .389 in the tourney and accounted for 15 of UAB's 37 total runs.
The lefty leadoff hitter went 2-for-3 with six RBI, three runs and launched two three-run homers in UAB's 20-7 victory over Kentucky in the championship game. Fletcher was named to the Kentucky Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Fletcher and the Blazers return to action Tuesday at Mississippi State. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
