BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team is slated to play a pair of matches in Birmingham this weekend.
The Blazers will host North Alabama on Saturday at 12 p.m. on campus at the UAB Tennis Courts and then match up with UTSA on Sunday with a 10 a.m. first serve at the Samford Tennis Center.
UAB (1-4) is coming off a 7-0 loss Wednesday at Samford. The short-handed Blazers, who defaulted a singles and doubles match because of injuries, forced three sets at two positions but could not come up with a point.
Rachel Daniell and Isabel Fernandez continue to have the best singles records on the team with each owning a 3-2 mark this spring.
North Alabama (1-2) is coming off its first victory of the season last weekend, a 6-1 win at Alabama A&M. The Lions lost their first two contests of the season at Murray State and Belmont. UAB and UNA met last season in Birmingham with the Blazers posting a 7-0 victory.
UTSA (4-1) will be playing for the third time in three days by the time it meets UAB on Sunday. The Roadrunners play Friday at Jacksonville State and Saturday at Samford. UTSA defeated UTEP, 4-1, last weekend. The Roadrunners also played another Conference USA opponent a week earlier, falling by a 7-0 score to Houston.
