Track And Field Set To Host Blazer Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB track and field team will host the Blazer Invite at the Birmingham Crossplex on Thursday and Friday to open its 2012 indoor season.
Admission for the two-day event is free to all UAB students with a valid student ID. Tickets are $5 per day for adults (ages 12 and up) and $3 per day for children (ages 4-12). The event is free for children under the age of three.
The meet will start Thursday evening with the long jump, shot put and mile events at 4 p.m. CT. Competition will resume Friday at 9 a.m, beginning with the women’s weight throw and conclude at 5 p.m. with the men’s 4x400-meter relay.
The Blazers will compete in the long jump, high jump and mile on Thursday. UAB will also compete in the pole vault, triple jump, 200-meters, 400-meters, 800-meters, 3,000-meters and 4x400-meter relay on Friday.
The competition features 23 teams, including in-state teams Birmingham-Southern, Alabama State, Huntingdon College, Jacksonville State, Samford and UAH.
