UAB President Carol Garrison and Richard Margison, UAB's vice president for Financial Affairs and Administration, briefed the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees today on a preliminary proposal for an on-campus football stadium.
The 27,500-30,000 seat stadium, located on the campus master plan near I-65 at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 12th Streets, would provide vistas of downtown Birmingham.
The first step in the review/approval process for this, or any new campus construction, is to take a more detailed proposal to the Board for Phase 1 approval. This could happen as early as November.
"We're very excited about this stadium proposal not only for the UAB community but for the City of Birmingham," said Garrison.
