BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB football team shifted its Tuesday morning practice to Legion Field because of wet conditions on campus and practiced for approximately an hour and a half in rainy weather.
Fresh off Saturday's comeback win at Memphis, the Blazers are taking advantage of the little time they have in a short week leading up to Thursday night's home game with Southern Miss.
"The weather didn't bother us much," UAB head coach Neil Callaway said. "Obviously, it was raining, but we came over here and got everything done. It's a quick week, we know. Tomorrow we'll do what we would normally do on a Friday and get ready for the game."
UAB (2-8, 2-5 C-USA) is preparing to face the nation's 20th-ranked team and one of the most complete teams in Conference USA. Southern Miss (9-1, 5-1 C-USA) ranks second in the league in both scoring offense and scoring defense.
"They're playing fast, playing physical," Callaway said. "Their defensive line is very good. They're the best defensive team we've played in the league."
Thursday's game, which kicks off at 7 p.m. CT, will serve as Senior Day for UAB. The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
The Blazer IMG Sports Network radio broadcast will air locally on WUHT-FM 107.7 in Birmingham. David Crane and John Whitcomb have the call with Sam Miller on the sidelines. The pregame show begins 90 minutes before kickoff.
