UAB Track & Field Travels To Florida Relays

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- After a successful outing at the Alabama Relays last weekend, the UAB track and field team will head to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in the 66th annual Pepsi Florida Relays April 2-3 at James G. Pressly Stadium.
Events at Percy Beard Track will get underway at 12:05 p.m. ET Friday with the 100m hurdles and continue through the steeplechase, 1500m and 5000m distance events, which kick off at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday's relay events start at 12 p.m. ET with the sprint medley relay and include the shuttle hurdle relay, 4x100m, 4x800m, 4x200m, distance medley relay and 4x400m. Saturday's field events include the javelin, triple jump and shot put.
At the Florida Relays, UAB will face competition from many conferences including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Vanderbilt from the Southeastern Conference, Wisconsin and Penn State from the Big Ten Conference and Florida State, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia Tech from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Live results from the Florida Relays can be viewed at Half-Mile Timing's website and will be available at uabsports.com upon the conclusion of competition.
Last weekend, the Blazers claimed two event titles and eight top-five finishes at the Alabama Relays hosted by the University of Alabama. Saturday, junior Bianca Le'Blanc clocked a personal-best time of 2:13.97 in the 800m to place first. In the high jump, junior Nora Mehl claimed first after leaping 1.79m (5-10.50).
Sophomore distance runner Rhiannon Johns also traveled to the Stanford Invitational to run the 10,000m race Friday and ran a personal-best time of 34:40.30 among the nation's top competition.
