BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team hosts its final on-campus match of the spring Friday at 1 p.m. CT against Middle Tennessee.
The match will be played at the 11th Avenue South tennis courts, located between 16th and 17th Street South, where UAB has posted a 2-1 record in three previous contests this spring.
The Blazers are then scheduled to host Conference USA opponent UTEP on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT at Lakeshore Tennis Center.
The Blazers (8-6) have split to matches over the past week, winning 4-3 at Chattanooga last Saturday and falling 4-0 to No. 67 Tulane on Monday.
Evelien Strijker and Giorgia Romeo managed the lone highlight against Tulane with their seventh victory in eight matches together at No. 1 doubles. Romeo has also been solid in singles, posting the team's best record this spring at 10-4.
Both of UAB's opponents this weekend will be playing for the first time in two weeks. Middle Tennessee (6-5) snapped a five-match losing streak in its most recent outing March 14 with a 5-2 win at South Alabama.
UTEP (8-8) ended a four-match losing skid of its own March 12 with a 4-3 win over New Mexico. The Miners are scheduled to play Middle Tennessee in Birmingham on Saturday before their match with UAB.
Prior to UAB's Friday contest against Middle Tennessee, the Blazers will honor their lone senior team member, Ceylan Engin, with a Senior Day presentation.
