TULSA, Okla. -- Three Blazers received all-conference accolades as the UAB cross country team placed fourth out of 12 teams Monday at the Conference USA Championship hosted by Tulsa.
UAB's Rhiannon Johns placed fifth individually with a personal-record 5K time of 16:55 to earn first-team all-conference honors. Clara Cid crossed the line in a personal-record time of 17:35 to finish 17th, and Stephanie Gammon ran to a time of 17:38 to finish 19th. Both earned third-team all-conference honors.
The first 21 women to cross the finish line were named to the All-C-USA first (1-7), second (8-14), and third (15-21) teams.
UTEP's Risper Kimaiyo clocked a time of 16:27 to claim the individual title for the second straight year, while Tulsa's Paula Whiting, Jacqueline Fairchild and Katie Wright finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
Tulsa took the team title with 27 points. Rice finished as the runner-up with 57 points, while UTEP placed third with 94 points. UAB claimed fourth with 102 points.
"The girls did a tremendous job," UAB head coach Blake Boldon said. "To have three runners on the all-conference teams in a year where everybody's running so well is fantastic. At one point or another this season four teams in C-USA have been in the national poll. C-USA only gets better and better each year, so to finish fourth is a big step."
Kristina Vaughn and Colleen Standridge rounded out the Blazers' top five finishers. Vaughn crossed the line in a personal-record time of 17:51 to take 26th, while Standridge ran to a personal-record time of 18:09 to finish 35th.
Lucy Taylor (18:49), Bianca Le'Blanc (19:15) and Emily Trotter (19:25) also had solid performances, bringing the tally to seven Blazers that achieved lifetime-best times Monday.
UAB will return to action Nov. 13 at the NCAA South Regional hosted by Samford in Hoover, Ala.
