Clemson, S.C. - The UAB track and field team concluded day one of competition at the Clemson Invitational Friday evening.
"We had some good things happen today," UAB interim head coach Kurt Thomas said. "It was great to see some of our freshmen open their careers at UAB with such positive performances."
Freshman Akira McSwain finished the 60m hurdle prelims with a time of 8.84, which qualified her for the finals. Lytrice Thomas and Timara McMillan also participated in the prelims and both finished with a time of 9.52.
In the 60m hurdle finals McSwain finished eighth with a time of 8.91.

In the 60m dash prelims, freshman Shakima Knox recorded a ninth-place finish with a time of 7.76, while junior Kim Taylor finished 15th with a time of 8.35.
