UAB Rained Out Of Final Day At Great Smokies Intercollegiate

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. - The UAB women's golf team was rained out of the second and final day of the Great Smokies Intercollegiate on Sunday at the Waynesville Inn Golf Resort. The Blazers placed 18th out of 23 teams with an 18-hole score of 314, while junior Lindsay Taylor earned runner-up honors after shooting 70 on Saturday.
Taylor's 70 earned her runner-up honors alongside William & Mary's Morgan Stepanek. Due to the shortened tournament, there was a four-way tie for individual champion accolades. Western Carolina's Malin Jansson and Tiffany Schisler tied with Elon's Tara McFadden and William & Mary's Carolina Sweet for top honors, each shooting a 69..
Elon and host-school Western Carolina tied for the team title lead, each recording team scores of 286. William & Mary placed third with a 288, while Radford took fourth place at 299. Charleston Southern rounded out the top five at 300.
Taylor was joined in UAB's efforts by junior Carolyn Cochran and sophomore Kristin Lottman, who tied for 90th with identical scores of 81. Freshman Ana Martin tied for 98th after recording an 82. Junior Jaime Brabb rounded out the Blazer competitors with an 87 to tie for 111th.
UAB will be back in action on Oct. 5-6 when it travels to Bradenton, Fla. to compete in the Waterlefe Invitational.
