BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team returned to the practice fields on Tuesday morning for a two-hour workout in preparation for its first road game of the season at Troy on Saturday. Kickoff between the Blazers and the Trojans is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT.
After the Blazers suffered their first loss of the season this past weekend, UAB head coach Neil Callaway was pleased with the way his team responded in Tuesday's practice session.
"Today was a lot better practice," said Callaway. "We got a good Tuesday in, now we have to see what we do tomorrow and the rest of the week."
Callaway pointed to the offensive line as one of the disappointments in the loss to SMU, but notes that the O-Line, as well as the entire team, stepped it up Tuesday and hopes that continues into Saturday's game at Troy.
"After looking at the film, the play of the offensive line was disappointing," said Callaway. "But, they had a good day today. Overall, I thought everything as a whole was better and improved today. We just have to continue this and hope it carries over into Saturday."
UAB and Troy are slated to kick off at 2:30 p.m. at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. The game will be regionally televised by CSS (Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast) and will also be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network. The radio broadcast can be heard in the Birmingham area on flagship station WUHT-FM 107.7, with the pregame show beginning at 1:00 p.m.
