Digger Towe.....STUD. After a fairly low scoring game Digg hits a three run BOMB over the right field wall to put us up two in the bottom of the 8th. Digg said it was a breaking ball that he hit out. When the ball disappeared behind the wall I knocked over the chair I was sitting in, Manning elbowed Little Jon (Merritt) in the face and Coach Roth looked like a little kid on Christmas Morning. It was awesome. Allen had a two-out hit in that inning and Luke had a two-out walk right in front of Digger's heroics. I'm happy for Digg. He's a great hitter and a great guy, and I'm glad he got to experience that. The Rice pitchers threw pretty well...I was 0-for-4, but I will gladly take 0-for-4 any day of the week if we get a win. Shay threw well enough to win. He struggled early in the game with some pitches up in the zone that were hit well, but he settled in and got through 6. Huddy came in and dominated...I say again, DOMINATED the Rice line-up. Graffeo got the ball in the 9th and shoved for the final out of the game. It was only two pitches long, but a big out. It was an insanely good game from our pitchers, which was the difference in the game. It seems to be a recurring theme that walks are the difference maker. They had 9 strikeouts and we had 9 strikeouts. They had 8 walks and we had 0. That was the difference in the game. Superb job from our staff. Yes, I did just say superb. I would also like to give a shout out to AT (Austin Taylor) who had an opposite field laser fly over the right field wall.
That's all I got for today. It's a good day to be a Blazer. It was a fun, well-played game, and we'll see if we can get another W tomorrow.
Until next time,
Brint
