BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB and Alabama will look for a date to complete Wednesday night's baseball game that was stopped in the sixth inning because of rain.
The teams looked to the NCAA for a ruling on whether or not the game should be considered official or halted, but the the NCAA ultimately left the decision up to UAB as the home team. The NCAA said it could stand as an official game, but said the final determination should be made by UAB.
The Blazers have decided to attempt to complete the game. The teams are now looking for a date that will work for each side.
UAB led Wednesday's game 2-1 through five innings, which constitutes an official game. Alabama scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to tie the score 2-2 before rain stopped play for the night. By rule, the score must revert back to that of the last equal inning played for an official game, unless the teams agree to finish it at a later date.
More information will follow once a date is set to complete the contest.
