UAB Volleyball Back In Action With Spring Matches

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB volleyball team is slated to play a handful of spring matches, starting this weekend with a trip to Franklin, Tenn., for the Southeast College/Junior Invitational.
The Blazers will play three matches Saturday at "A Game Sportsplex," the home facility of Impact Volleyball Club. UAB is scheduled to face Western Kentucky, Virginia Tech and Ole Miss at the event.
The following week, the Blazers will be at Georgia State in Atlanta for a single match with Troy and another tournament.
UAB will play Troy on Friday, April 4 and then take part in the Atlanta Spring Collegiate Invitational on Sunday, April 5. The invitational also features Florida State, Georgia, Jacksonville State, Ole Miss, Troy, South Florida, Georgia Tech, Mercer and host Georgia State.
UAB is coming off an historic season that saw the Blazers finish 27-8, earn an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament and post an opening round victory over Missouri State. UAB received votes for nine weeks in the Bison/AVCA Coaches Poll and finished the 2008 season at No. 22 in the RPI.
