BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- After a weekend of cancelled, postponed and suspended matches, the UAB women's tennis team is looking forward to getting back on the court Tuesday with a 2 p.m. CT contest against Mercer at Brook Highland Racquet Club.
The Blazers are 2-3 on the season but have not played a complete match since last Wednesday at Samford. UAB was scheduled to play three matches over the weekend, but each one was affected by inclement weather.
Friday's match with Washington (Md.) College was rained out. Saturday's contest with Chattanooga was suspended by rain during doubles action. And Sunday's match at Kennesaw State was postponed until a later date because of snow and cold temperatures.
Mercer enters Tuesday's match at 2-4 on the season with their most recent defeat coming Saturday at Auburn.
Auburn, which also defeated UAB earlier this season, is one of two common opponents shared by the Blazers and the Bears. Jacksonville State is the other. UAB defeated Jacksonville State, 6-1, earlier this season, while Mercer lost to the Gamecocks by the same score.
