Hey Blazer Softball fans!
Sorry that it has been a while since my last post. It was a busy week trying to get things done before spring break. I also had a little accident that landed me in the ER, but no worries. I am ok.
Two weeks ago we hosted a doubleheader against Alabama A&M. The team played exceptionally, especially on offense. We won the first game, 8-0, and took the second one, 15-2. All of the girls have worked hard at practice and it definitely shows.
In the Magic City Classic Tournament, the games were moved around due to weather problems. On Saturday, February 28, we won against Northern Illinois, 16-13, and Alabama State, 14-9. The weather conditions for the tournament were brutal but the team played through it. Unfortunately, the Sunday games were also cancelled due to snow.
Last week we traveled to Tuscaloosa, playing against No. 1 Alabama. It was a fun experience and an awesome atmosphere playing against the Crimson Tide. Mandy Lowman hit a line drive homerun over the left centerfield fence to give us our only run scored in the game. Even though we lost, 8-1, we learned a lot from the game and are ready to play them again on our home field.
We also hosted Southern Miss for the first conference series of the year. We split the games on Saturday and won the game on Sunday giving us the win of the series. It was very important for us to win our first conference series. The team is really putting it all together and proving over and over again how strong our team is. Today we practiced and prepared to take on the University of Alabama at home. The team is ready and looking for another win. I know we will be giving it our best shot at the game tomorrow. It is also our Breast Cancer Awareness game, so you will be seeing a lot of pink (which happens to be my favorite color). So come out and support your Blazers tomorrow to support the breast cancer awareness cause, and don't forget to wear pink!
Thanks for everyone who supports our team. It is greatly appreciated. I also want to thank God for giving us another day to come out and play the game that we all love. Hope to see you all at the game. GO BLAZERS!!!!
