BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Blazers ISP Sports Network announced Monday that fans in the Birmingham area will have the opportunity to hear a minimum of 12 UAB baseball games during the 2009 season. Included on the schedule will be selected Conference USA games, three meetings with SEC foes, as well as the Conference USA Tournament. All of the broadcasts will air on WSPZ-AM 690 in Birmingham.
"We are all extremely excited about the upcoming baseball season," said David Crane, the Director of Broadcasting for the Blazers ISP Sports Network. "Coach Brian Shoop continues to energize the program, and we are happy to be a part of what will no doubt be an exciting year of UAB baseball."
In addition to the radio broadcasts, ISP will once again this year produce several Internet-only broadcasts to expand the coverage of UAB baseball. Fans will be able to listen to selected games online at www.uabsports.com through the "Blazers All-Access" service.
"The combination of our radio and Internet broadcasts will offer fans the chance to hear games from places like Young Memorial Field, Regions Park in Hoover, Tuscaloosa and the Conference USA Tournament in Hattiesburg," Crane said. "It's an exciting schedule, and we look forward to following the Blazers throughout the season."
UAB will open the 2009 campaign next weekend, Feb. 20-22, at Young Memorial Field with a three-game series against Radford. The first radio broadcast is slated for Tuesday, March 24, when the Blazers visit in-state foe Alabama. The Internet broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
