BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team heads across town Wednesday for a 2 p.m. dual match at Samford.
The Blazers enter the match at 2-2 on the spring season after winning two out of three matches last week. UAB defeated Jacksonville State and North Florida at home before falling on the road Saturday at No. 27 Auburn.
Evelien Strijker, Paula Alvarez, Giorgia Romeo and Brittany DeFelice each won singles matches last week against both Jacksonville State and North Florida. Alvarez nearly added a third win at Auburn but suffered a loss in three sets.
Samford is 1-3 on the season after a loss Sunday at No. 65 Alabama.
UAB and Samford have two common opponents this season in Memphis and North Florida. Memphis defeated both teams on the same day earlier this month in a pair of dual matches at Samford, while both UAB and Samford defeated North Florida by identical 4-3 scores.
Wednesday's match will be the third time UAB has played this season at Samford. The Blazers competed in the Samford Winter Invitational in January and also played their dual match with Memphis at Samford on Feb. 10.
Following Wednesday's match, the Blazers will return home to host Washington (Md.) College on campus Friday and Chattanooga at Brook Highland Racquet Club on Saturday.
