BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB women's soccer player Danielle Blair has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV women's soccer first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This marks the second consecutive season that Blair has been named as a first-team all-district honoree and the third consecutive year she has been recogznized as an academic all-district player (earned third-team honors in 2007).
"Danielle embodies the spirit of the true student-athlete," UAB head coach Paul Harbin said. "In addition to being a triple major with a 4.0 grade point average, she's also one of the best defenders in Conference USA and has represented two different countries in national team competition. She's also one of the most thoughtful, independent people I know. I'm extremely proud of Danielle and what she has accomplished here at UAB. It's wonderful to see her recognized as one of the best in the region."
Blair, a native of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, is in her fourth season starting at defender for the Blazers. She has played in a total of 71 games during her career, earning a spot in the starting lineup on 64 of those contests.
Along with being a vital part of the Blazers' defensive efforts over the past four seasons, she has also contributed two goals and one assist.
In the classroom, Blair has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and has been named to UAB's President's List every semester during her career. She has also earned a spot on the Conference USA Honor Roll, as well as the league's Academic Medal of Honor, for the past three years. She is majoring in industrial distribution, management and marketing.
Blair is one of six UAB women's soccer players that have been named to a CoSIDA Academic All-District team in program history.
