BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Carolyn Cochran, a redshirt junior member of the Blazer women's golf team, has been selected as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
Cochran carries a 3.96 cumulative GPA as a biology major at UAB and has received presidential honors in five of her six semesters at the university. She is a three-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a three-time recipient of the league's academic medal.
Cochran has been a key member of the UAB team since arriving on campus. So far in 2009, the Daphne, Ala., native has been one of the Blazers top two finishers in both of the team's events this fall. In her most recent outing, she fired a season-best 75 on Oct. 6 in the third and final round of the Waterlefe Invitational in Bradenton, Fla.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Sunday night on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:35 p.m. on ABC 33/40.
The women's golf team has two events remaining on its slate of fall tournaments. The Blazers are back in action Monday, Oct. 19 and Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Wendy's Invitational in Charleston, S.C.
