Jenny Cape Tabbed Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- With her spring season about to begin, sophomore women's tennis player Jenny Cape has been selected as the UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
Cape enters her sophomore season looking to build on a strong freshman campaign from a year ago. In the spring of 2008, she managed an 8-6 record in singles action, including a 3-1 mark against Conference USA teams, and a 10-5 record in doubles play.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Cape was also impressive in the classroom during her first year as a Blazer. She earned a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll which recognizes student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or better, and she was also honored with the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal which recognizes student-athletes with a 3.75 GPA or better.
Now a sophomore, Cape posted a 2-3 singles record during the fall campaign as the Blazers prepared for their spring season. The women's tennis team returns to the court this weekend with three days of action at the Auburn Winter Invitational starting Friday.
