UAB Begins Midweek Series With Kennesaw State Tuesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB baseball team will play a home-and-away midweek series with Kennesaw State on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday night, the Blazers travel to play the Owls at Stillwell Stadium at 6:00 p.m. ET before returning home for the second game of the series at Young Memorial Field on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. CT.
Both games will be available live on Gametracker through UABsports.com.
Accountants and kids will receive free admission to Wednesday's game at Young Memorial Field. David Crane will call Wednesday's game, which can be heard on Blazer All-Access at UABsports.com.
UAB enters the week with a record of 14-20 after getting swept at No. 7 Rice last weekend.
The Blazers have seen improved results the past couple weeks and have relied heavily on their offense, which scored 48 runs in five games last week.
Left fielder Phil Bell is swinging one of the hottest bats in the country entering the week. Bell is this week's Conference USA Co-Hitter of the Week after he hit .542 with three home runs and 16 RBI last week.
First baseman Ryan Keedy continues to be one of the best hitters in C-USA as he ranks second in the league with his .425 batting average. The senior has four home runs and 33 RBI on the year.
Kyle Roberson will get the start on the mound for the Blazers on Tuesday. Roberson is 4-2 on the year and boasts an ERA of 3.54. He ranks second on the team with 27 strikeouts.
The Blazers have not announced a starter for Wednesday's contest.
Kennesaw State enters the series with a record of 19-17 after exploding for a 32-3 victory against USC Upstate on Sunday.
The Owls are led by Jay Morrow who is batting .358 with four home runs and 30 RBI. Jacob Robbins has also been an offensive threat, batting .359 with 14 stolen bases.
