Gammon Wins 10K at Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- Stephanie Gammon won the 10,000-meter run at the second day of the Alabama Relays Friday.
Gammon, a freshman, won the event with a time 37:28.35 while fellow UAB runner Lacey Wright finished sixth with a time of 40:56.44.
"For their first 10,000-meter race they did a great job," head coach Ray Stanfield said. "These two are very good, young distance runners that will carry on the tradition we have built here."
The 37:28.35 time set a new freshman record in the event.
The majority of events at the relays will be held Saturday and Sunday.
