Wallace Named Scholar-Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Brandon Wallace, a right-handed pitcher on the UAB baseball team, has been named this week's UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Wallace was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2007, while leading the Blazers in saves with four.
Wallace got off to a fast start this season by throwing seven innings in his first start of the season against Ball State last weekend. The Hartselle, Ala. native struck out four and issued no walks and allowed no earned runs against the Cardinals.
In addition to his work in the classroom, Wallace has also been active in the community as he spoke to students at Norwood Elementary last season as part of UAB's Blazer Classroom Connection program.
The Blazers (2-3) will host Brown for a four-game weekend series at Young Memorial Field beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m.
