Two Blazers Compete in Pentathlon at LSU Multi Meet

BATON ROUGE, La. -----Two UAB track and field athletes, Timara McMillan and Katryce Sykes, competed in the pentathlon at the LSU Multi Meet on Thursday.
McMillan finished eighth at the five events while Sykes placed ninth, with respective point totals of 2,784 and 2,687.
McMillan captured her most points of the event with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Sykes placed seventh in the event. Sykes scored her most points in the long jump, as both she and McMillan jumped 5.09 meters.
Sykes placed sixth in the 800-meter portion of the pentathlon with a time of 2:45.01, while McMillan ran a time of 2:57.82. In the high jump McMillan cleared 1.46 meters, and Sykes 1.37 meters. McMillan tossed 8.31 meters and Sykes 8.07 meters in the shot put.
The Blazers will compete at the Meyo Invitational beginning Feb. 8 in South Bend, Ind.
