Dent Named Scholar-Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -Junior Casey Dent of the UAB volleyball team has been named this week's UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Dent was a Conference USA All-Academic Team selection last season and ranks third all-time at UAB in career hitting percentage.
Dent and the Blazers went 1-1 last week. The Helena, Ala. native hit .423 with 13 kills in the Blazers' win against UTEP on Sunday.
This season, Dent has previously been named to the Bama Bash and U of Memphis Invite All-Tournament teams.
Dent's success has stemmed far beyond the volleyball court at UAB as she was a 2006 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Third Team selection and was awarded a C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal in addition to being named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
She is a pre-business major at UAB.
The Blazers will travel to play at Mercer on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Memphis on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Blazers' match with the Tigers will be televised by CSTV.
