CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. -- The UAB women's golf team finishes a week-long road trip in Florida with the Cincinnati Spring Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Plantation Inn Golf Course in Crystal River, Fla. UAB is coming off a 12th place finish out of 14 teams at USF's Waterlefe Invitational last weekend in Bradenton, Fla.
"The week on the road together should pay dividends for us," UAB head coach Kim Wilcox said. "We've had some time away from campus and the day-to-day distractions to focus on our games. I expect better scores from top to bottom this weekend."
Wilcox's club will face a UC Invite field that includes the host Bearcats, Illinois, Marshall and Wichita State. The tournament will play par 72, 6,161 yards and run 36 holes with 18 played each day.
Freshman Christina Wentworth paced UAB at the Waterlefe with a 249 for 54-holes. Martha Hudson was the low round for the Blazers in the third round of the tournament with an 85.
The same lineup hits the tees Friday for UAB with senior Janey Deimling, Hudson, Wentworth, freshman Krista Tressler and sophomore Ashlee Claydon taking to the links.
