BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB baseball team travels to in-state rival Troy for a Tuesday matchup with the Trojans at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field. This will mark the second meeting between the teams this season as the Blazers came away with a 5-3 victory on March 8 at Young Memorial Field in Birmingham.
The Blazers (25-15, 10-8 C-USA) dropped a 10-7 decision at Samford last week before rebounding with a series victory over Conference USA rival Cincinnati last weekend at home. UAB won 5-2 in Friday night's opener before holding on for a 4-3 victory on Saturday. The Bearcats were able to avoid the sweep though, taking a 1-0 win in Sunday's finale behind strong pitching and outstanding defense.
Troy (29-11, 17-4 Atlantic Sun) is coming off a series victory of their own at Florida Atlantic last weekend in Boca Raton, Fla. After dropping the series opener, the Trojans exploded for 34 runs over the next two games to finish off the series with a pair of victories.
After their 5-3 victory over the Trojans earlier this season, the Blazers are now 12-14 all-time against Troy.
