Shepherd Completes Heptathlon At Sea Ray Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- UAB senior Judy Shepherd took 12th place overall and 11th out of collegiate athletes in the heptathlon on Thursday at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. hosted by the University of Tennessee.
Shepherd earned a total of 4,429 points in the multi-event competition. On the final day she competed in the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meter run.
Shepherd's highest finish in an event on the day was fourth place in the javelin throw. She had a mark of 32.50m. She tied for 13th in the long jump with a mark of 5.13m and her 800-meter time of 2:41.81 earned her a 15th place finish.
Jessica Stockard of the University of Georgia won the event with a score of 5,369 points, while unattached athlete Bridgette Ingram took second. A total of 17 athletes competed in the heptathlon.
The UAB track and field team will return to action when the full squad travels to Mississippi State for the Jace Lacoste Invitational on Saturday.
