UAB Completes First Day Of Competition At Clemson Relays

CLEMSON, S.C. --- The Clemson Relays, hosted by Clemson University, got underway on Friday as the UAB track and field team began field-event competition. The Blazers competed in the pole vault, long jump and javelin throw.
Sophomore Erin Harris, who qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships in the triple jump at the Alabama Relays last week, finished 10th in the long jump preliminaries with a mark of 5.31 meters. Senior Judy Shepherd had a jump of 4.66 meters and freshman Tracy Rowan had a distance of 3.32 meters.
In the javelin throw sophomore Tiffany Parker threw for 30.47 meters, while junior Christy Mixon threw for 24.99 meters. Parker also competed in the pole vault, along with freshman Rebecca Brown. Neither athlete received a mark in the event.
Day two of the Clemson Relays will start on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the women's 5000-meter run. The final event of the meet is scheduled to begin at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday.
