BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's tennis team faces two tough tests at home Saturday and Sunday as they welcome Conference USA rival Louisville on Saturday and non-conference foe Murray State Sunday. Both matches will begin at 11 a.m. CT at Brook Highland Racquet Club in Birmingham. The Louisville match has been moved to 11 a.m. from 1 p.m. to accommodate the Cardinals' travel schedule.
UAB (9-3, 2-1 C-USA) is coming off a 6-0 blanking of in-state rival Jacksonville State on Thursday. Sophomore Samrin Tanzeem won her 10th straight singles match to lead the way for Mert Ertunga's Blazers.
Louisville is 15-7 overall and 1-0 in league play but has lost two straight matches, both on the road. The Cards dropped a 7-0 decision to South Alabama Monday, then lost, 5-1, to Virginia Commonwealth Thursday in Mobile. The Cards' match against UAB winds down a spring break trip spent in Alabama for UofL.
On Sunday, the Blazers welcome Murray State. The Racers are 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. MSU is the defending OVC champion after a 19-6 season in 2004.
After weekend play, UAB will travel to Georgia State to face the Panthers on Friday, March 25.
