UAB Travels To Tuscaloosa For Alabama Relays

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB track and field team opens its outdoor season as it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend for the Alabama Relays, hosted by the University of Alabama, March 17-20. In 2004 the Blazers placed third out of 14 teams at the same meet.
The Blazers hope to build on a successful indoor campaign in which they placed third at the Conference USA Championships. Head coach Ray Stanfield was named C-USA Women's Indoor Coach of the Year.
UAB sends 25 athletes to the meet, which starts on Thursday with the heptathlon. Senior Judy Shepherd, sophomore Erin Harris and freshman Tracy Rowan will compete in the heptathlon on Thursday and Friday. The majority of the individual events will be Saturday, with some field events and the relays on Sunday.
The heptathlon begins at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and again at 10 a.m. on Friday. Events begin Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m., with the final event Saturday starting at 5:15 p.m., and Sunday at 5:10 p.m.
