UAB Women's Basketball Downed By Chattanooga, 84-58

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ----- The UAB women's basketball team trailed Chattanooga by 18 points at halftime as it was defeated by the Lady Mocs, 84-58, Wednesday night. The 84 points were the most allowed by the Blazers this season.
UAB (1-3) got in the hole early as the Lady Mocs started the game with a 13-5 run and allowed the Blazers only 20 points in the first half. UAB was 7-of-24 from the field and 0-of-5 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes of action. The Blazers rebounded a bit in the second half, hitting 48.3 percent of their shots (14-of-29).
Domaneice Moore recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. It was the third-straight game in which Moore tallied double digits in rebounds.
Junior Carmen Guzman led the Blazers with 14 points off the bench, while senior Deirdre Larry tied a career best with four assists.
UAB was held well-below its season averages of 65.3 points per game and 41.8 percent from the field. Additionally, the Blazers turned the ball over a season-high 22 times. UAB's 32 rebounds were a season low.
"This was not our best game of the season," said UAB head coach Audra Smith. "There are a lot of things we need to learn from this game. We just have to put this behind us and focus on improving our performance against a very good Ole Miss team on Saturday."
Chattanooga (3-3) had four players in double digits, with Alex Anderson's 18 points and eight rebounds leading the way. Brooke Hand came off the bench to score 14, while Tiffani Roberson and Nicole Mattison had 11 each.
Next, the Blazers travel to Oxford, Miss., to face Ole Miss on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.
