UAB Has A Solid Performance In Pentathalon

Clemson, S.C. ---- The UAB track and field team had another strong showing here this weekend at the Clemson Pentathalon/Heptathalon.
"We had some really good things happen in the meet," said UAB assistant coach Jennifer Robeson. "Overall we had a good showing as a team, and it gives me a good idea of what we need to work on to prepare for the Conference USA Championships"
The Blazers had five athletes compete in the Pentathalon hosted by Clemson University. Senior Judy Shepherd finished third overall with 3,463 points and finished second in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. Senior Adrienne Duke finished fifth overall with 3,249 points and finished second in the 800-meter run.
Freshman Tracy Rowan finished seventh in her first collegiate pentathalon with a score of 2,944 and finished first in the 800-meter run. Sophomores Erin Harris and Penny Shields finished 11th and 12th with 2,586 points and 2,557 points respectively. Additionally, Harris finished first in the long jump.
The Blazers next travel to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame on February 4-5.
