Moore Leads Blazers Over Saint Louis, 85-68

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- After giving up the first bucket of the game to Saint Louis, the UAB women's basketball team went on an 11-0 run and never looked back, as the Blazers defeated the Billikens, 85-68, in Bartow Arena on Sunday afternoon.
In the first half, UAB (5-14, 2-4) tallied three separate double-digit runs and took a 43-21 lead into the locker room at the break. The Blazers' 43 first-half points were the most for UAB this season.
Domaneice Moore had a career day, setting two personal bests. Moore led all scorers and rebounders with 24 points and 12 boards in the contest. Additionally, the Blazers had five players double figures, a season high for UAB. Carmen Guzman, LaKitha Murray, Katie Billue and Crystal McFadden each had 10 or more points. Murray also added nine rebounds to the cause, a career high.
The Blazers hit an impressive 50.9 percent from the floor, including 53.1 percent in the second half. Additionally, UAB was 26-of-32 from the charity stripe for 81.3 percent. The Blazers had a huge advantage on the boards, outrebounding Saint Louis, 51-30.
Saint Louis (2-17, 1-5) hit 33.3 percent of its shots, but was just 2-of-16 from beyond the arc. The Billikens had three players tally double-digit points, with Mia Johnson leading the way with 15. Heather King was Saint Louis' leading rebounder with eight in the contest.
The win was UAB's first over Saint Louis in four meetings. The Blazers head to Chicago next weekend to face DePaul on Friday at 7 p.m.
