Blazers To Host USF In Three-Game C-USA Series

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB will host the University of South Florida in a crucial three-game Conference USA baseball series over the weekend at Young Memorial Field. Friday's game begins at 7 p.m., Saturday's game is at 2 p.m. and Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Sunday's game will be broadcast live via the world wide web on the Blazers' official athletics website, www.uabsports.com. For those who are not Yahoo! subscribers, a monthly subscription can be purchased for $4.95 per month and a season-long subscription may be purchased for $14.95. UAB and USF are both tied for sixth in the C-USA standings. The top eight teams in the league standings advance to the conference tournament, which will be held May 26-30 in Houston, Texas.
UAB (24-24, 10-13 Conference USA) is coming off a 3-2 loss at Jacksonville State last Tuesday. USF (29-20, 10-13 C-USA) won a 13-3 decision over in-state foe Stetson last Tuesday at Red McEwen Field in its last outing.
Sunday's game has been designated as "Senior Day." UAB's senior baseball players will be honored prior to the contest. The 2004 senior class includes infielder Josh Miljavac (St. Joseph, Mo.), outfielder Sam Clark (Jacksonville, Ala.), outfielder Jeremy Moran (Dadeville, Ala.), outfielder Matt Womble (Daphne, Ala.), pitcher Chris Thorup (Olathe, Kan.), catcher Eugene Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.), pitcher Griffin Zarbough (Waldorf, Md.) and first baseman Daniel Hill (Pleasant Grove, Ala.).
Tickets to each game are $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 3-12, children 2 and under are admitted free and UAB students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
