UAB Women's Basketball Hosts Chattanooga

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's basketball team will play in Bartow Arena for the second time this season, as the Blazers host Chattanooga on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. UAB and the Lady Mocs have faced each other 28 times, with both teams winning 14 games, but Chattanooga has won the last two meetings. The Lady Mocs defeated the Blazers last season, 84-71, in the season opener for UAB.
UAB went 1-1 in the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., this past weekend. The Blazers defeated Holy Cross, 66-65, on Friday, but fell to Colorado State, 82-57, in the championship game on Saturday. UAB's Carmen Guzman tallied 20 points and a career-high eight rebounds for the Blazers against the Rams and was named to the all-tournament team. Guzman had 41 points and 14 boards in two games at the tournament.
Chattanooga improved to 2-2 on the season, after winning two games at the Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Saint Mary's College this past weekend. The Lady Mocs are led by Katasha Brown's 12.5 points per game and Nicole Mattison's 9.8 rebounds per contest. As a team, Chattanooga is hitting 34.4 percent of its shots from the floor, including 32.6 percent from beyond the arc.
