Women's Tennis Falls To DePaul, 6-0

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. ----- The UAB women's tennis team (9-6, 2-2) fell to Conference USA foe DePaul, 6-0, here on Saturday afternoon.
"DePaul is a tough team," said UAB head coach Mert Ertunga. "They are one of the elite teams in our conference. We are not used to playing indoors and that hurt us as well. Nevertheless, they were the better team without a doubt."
The Blue Demons took the doubles point by winning two of three matches. In the No. 1 tilt, DePaul's Szilvia Kelemen and Marina Parashkevova defeated Blazers Natascha Immele and Ornischa Maier-Knapp, 8-4. Blue Demons Natalie Matko and Brenda Leung were victorious over UAB's Yvonne Ernst and Femke de Boer, 8-4, in the No. 2 spot. In the No. 3 match, Blazers Nadia Dellarciprete and Julia Hoch beat DePaul's Rachel Dybas and Megan Stewart, 8-5.
In singles play, DePaul won all five completed matches. In the No. 1 position, Blue Demon Kelemen defeated UAB's Immele, 6-0, 6-0. Blazer de Boer fell to DePaul's Parashkevova, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 2 match. In the No. 3 slot, Blue Demon Leung was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over UAB's Ernst. In the No. 5 tilt, DePaul's Karen Falduto beat Blazer Hoch, 6-2, 6-0. UAB's Dellarciprete fell at the No. 6 spot to Blue Demon Dybas, 6-3, 6-2.
The No. 4 match between Maier-Knapp and Matko was stopped when DePaul's victory was secured.
UAB stays in Milwaukee to face Marquette on Sunday, March 6, at 10 a.m.
