Kyle Leon Named C-USA Co-Hitter Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior outfielder Kyle Leon of the UAB baseball team was named the Conference USA Co-Hitter of the week, the league announced Monday.
Leon, a native of Guelph, Ontario, posted a .562 batting average (9-for-16), a 1.000 slugging percentage, 11 RBI, 16 total bases, nine hits, six runs scored, two home runs and a double in helping lead UAB to a perfect 4-0 record on the week. The Blazers (4-0) are currently off to their best start since the 1993 season.
Leon currently leads the Blazers in RBI, total bases and slugging percentage, and is tied for the team lead in home runs. He hit .667 with two home runs and eight RBI during the three-game series with Mississippi Valley State last weekend at Young Memorial Field. Leon was 5-5 with a three-run homer, six RBI and two runs scored in UAB's 9-1 victory over Mississippi Valley State Friday night. He also had a home run in UAB's 18-5 victory over Mississippi Valley State Saturday. Leon had a double and three RBI in UAB's 13-4 season-opening win at Alabama State last Tuesday.
UAB returns to Young Memorial Field Tuesday to face cross-town rival Birmingham-Southern at 6 p.m.
