Cross Country To Participate In South Regional Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB cross country team will be in Auburn, Ala. this Saturday, participating in the 2003 NCAA South Region championship. The 6K women's competition begins at 10:00 a.m. (CT) and will be at the Indian Pines Golf Course.
The meet will include schools from Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia.
UAB had a historical day at the 2003 Conference USA Championship, finishing tied for fourth overall with 151 points. The finish was the Blazers' highest at this event, as six of UAB's seven runners recorded personal bests. Amanda Kara led the Blazers, finishing ninth overall and was also named all-conference for the first time in her UAB career. Emry McKay finished 16th in the race, just out of all-conference placement. She recorded a personal best as well, with a time of 22:02.30.
Jennifer Thompson was UAB's third finisher, placing 34th. Ryanne Fortney placed 43rd, while Elizabeth Ambrus finished 48th overall. Adel Anderson placed 78th and Emily Scarbrough finished the course in 82nd. Marquette took the team title with 43 points.
