Volleyball To Open Season Against Seventh-Ranked Florida

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB volleyball team will open its season Friday against seventh-ranked (by the USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll) Florida at the University Centre Hotel Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on the campus of the University of Florida. Match time at the O'Connell Center is set for 2 p.m. (ET).

UAB will face 19th-ranked Illinois at 5:30 p.m. (ET) Friday and will close out the tournament Saturday against Rhode Island at 1:30 p.m. (ET).

The Blazers' match with Florida will feature live stats available through the University of Florida's website at www.gatorzone.com.

The UAB football team will also be on Florida's campus over the weekend, as the Blazers will square off against the sixth-ranked Gators Saturday at 6 p.m. (ET) in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Blazer volleyball team will take on Alabama in the team's home opener Tuesday at Bartow Arena at 7:30 p.m.
