Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 to Tennessee-Chattanooga

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB women's tennis team played hard, but fell a point short in Saturday afternoon's 4-3 loss to Tennessee-Chattanooga at the Brook Highland Racquet Club. With the loss, the Blazers fall to 0-2 on the season.
It seemed like the Blazers were on their game early as they came out strongwith all three doubles teams winning their match. The Blazers went up 1-0.
In singles play, Monika Schmid pulled out the easy win over Charlotte Goude 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. At the No. 6 position, Nadia Dellarciprete defeated Laura Henry 6-2, 6-3.
The Blazers had chances to win the game at each position, but they couldn't drive the points home. Junior Natascha Immele fell 7-6, 7-6, each in tiebreakers to Cynthia Oulevay at the No. 3 spot, while Sophomore Femke deBoer duplicated Immele falling 7-6, 7-6 in tiebreakers to Saskia van Velze. The Blazers fell at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots to give the match to the Mocs.
The Blazers will try to fight back against Mississippi State on Friday at the Brook Highland Racquet Club. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
