Volleyball Team Falls To Tulane

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane (10-10, 2-2 Conference USA) defeated UAB (7-13, 1-3 C-USA) 30-27, 30-24, 30-14 in Conference USA volleyball action Saturday evening at Fogelman Arena.
Senior middle blocker Allison Magner and junior outside hitter Martina Shields each posted 10 kills and seven digs to lead UAB. Senior setter Dina Katsoulis added 33 assists and six digs for the Blazers.
"We played really well in the first game of the match and built a considerable lead," said UAB head coach Melinda Claiborne. "After losing game one however, we were never really able to recover. This was a very disappointing loss."
Senior outside hitter Britney Hurst had 19 kills, nine digs and hit for .486 to lead Tulane. Freshman setter Kelli Dickson posted a double-double, as she had 40 assists and 10 digs, and sophomore middle blocker Deva Fowler added 11 kills for the Green Wave.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena Friday to take on Pittsburgh in a non-conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
