CHICAGO - DePaul (10-1, 2-0 Conference USA) defeated UAB (6-5, 0-3 C-USA) 30-22, 30-24, 30-19 in Conference USA volleyball action at the DePaul Athletic Center.
Sophomore outside hitter Martina Shields led the Blazers with 11 kills and five digs. Freshman setter Jessica Liptak added 32 assists and junior outside hitter/setter Dina Katsoulis posted 10 kills.
Senior middle blocker Christa Dirr paced the Blue Demons with 12 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Bishop posted 11 kills, junior middle blocker Katie Engel had 10 kills, 10 digs, three total blocks and hit for .348, and senior setter Kara Jakusz added 33 assists.
The Blazers travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to face C-USA rival Marquette (5-6, 0-2 C-USA) tomorrow at 7 p.m.
