Play Suspended During Final Day At ITA South Regionals

Play at the ITA South Regionals has been suspended.
During Saturdays events, three players from the UAB women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals in their flights.
Mirela Vladulescu who is seeded no. 12 in the tournament, defeated Mira Radu, the no. 5 seeded player from Mississippi 6-2, 6-1 in Singles Flight A. Vladulescu, , a senior from Leimen, Germany, ranked no. 68 on the Wingspan/ITA National Rankings pulled off the upset over the no. 44 ranked Radu. Vladulescu will face Lindsey Dawaf (seeded 13th, ranked 75th) of Florida in her next match.
In Consolation Singles Flight A, freshman Margaux Melsheimer defeated Carolina Ramirez of Auburn 6-2, 6-3. Melsheimer will meet Jamie Wong of Georgia Tech in her next match.
Sophomore Natascha Immele defeated Sophie De'Smet in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in her first match of the day in Singles Flight B. She then defeated Summa Edwards of Auburn 6-3, 6-1 and will play Audra Adams in her next match.
In Consolation Singles Flight B, freshman Tanja Pflugfelder defeated Ali Baxter of Mississippi 6-0, 6-0 and then advanced to the semi-finals after Dia Collins withdrew due to illness.
In other singles matches, junior Monika Schmid fell to the no. 2 seeded and no. 23 ranked Lori Grey of Georgia 6-1, 6-0 in Singles Flight A. Playing in Singles Flight B, freshman Femke de Boer defeated Jackie Spicijaric 6-0, 7-5 in her first match of the day before falling to Weyll Chang of Alabama 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles action, Schmid and Vladulescu, seeded no. 5 in Doubles Flight A, defeated Amelie Detriviere and Claudia Liveira 8-0 before falling to the no. 4 seeded Martina Ondrejkova and Viktoria Stoklasova 8-5 in the quarterfinals.
In Doubles Flight B, Immele and Pflugfelder advanced to the semifinals due to an injury withdraw by Christa Grey and Anne Nguyen of Georgia.
Melsheimer and de Boer fell to Amy Bartlett and Isabella Kling 9-7 in Consolation Doubles Flight A.
