Katie McCormack joined the UAB coaching staff in 2018 as the program’s volunteer assistant coach. She came to UAB following two years at Birmingham-Southern College, where she served as the program’s volunteer and then assistant coach.
While coaching at Birmingham-Southern, McCormack managed team travel, recruiting, marketing and fundraising within the program. In the gym, she was responsible for training setters and facilitating team drills. During the 2017 season, BSC made its second ever NCAA tournament appearance and finished second in the conference.
Prior to her coaching career, McCormack was a four-year starter at Birmingham-Southern College. She led the Panthers as a setter to the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015 where they advanced to the Round of 32 and finished ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in school history. McCormack was awarded the program’s first AVCA All-America honors and finished third all time in career assists.
McCormack graduated in 2016 from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in religious studies and a minor in business administration.
