The UAB softball program has announced the hiring of former Jacksonville State standout Faith Sims as the volunteer assistant coach.
“Faith brings a lot of experience to our program,” said head coach Jimmy Kolaitis. “She is a proven winner throughout her career. Her talent and knowledge of the sport will help our team improve on both sides of the ball.”
Sims comes to UAB after a successful career for the Gamecocks earning First Team All-Conference and OVC Pitcher of the Year honors last season. She posted a career record of 48-21, going 23-5 in her senior campaign. In April of 2019 she was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week after throwing two no hitters in 17.1 innings of work. Sims finished top 50 in the nation in ERA, strikeouts, and victories in 2019.
The Jasper, Ala. native played at Cordova High School where she recorded 2,150 strikeouts and was named first team all-state four years in a row.
“I’m grateful to be working with the team and learning from one of the best coaching staffs in the country,” added Sims. “I can’t wait to learn the ins and outs of coaching.”
