Scott Sharp enters his second year with the UAB men’s basketball team, where he serves as the Director of Basketball Administration.
Prior to joining the Blazers’ staff, Sharp served as an assistant coach at the College of Idaho. During his four seasons, the Yotes went 101-36 and went been to four CCC postseason tournaments, while winning the CCC regular season and postseason titles in 2015 and 2018.
In those same years, the Yotes appeared in three NAIA National Tournaments, advancing to the quarterfinals in 2015, the second round in 2017 and the semifinals in 2018.
Sharp coached five All-Americans at the College of Idaho, including first-team selections Josh Wilson and Aziz Leeks. Both Leeks and Wilson were also named the Cascade Conference Player of the Year.
He also coached Leeks, as well as Emanuel Morgan, to CCC Defensive Player of the Year honors. In 2017-18, the Yotes were the top defensive team in the NAIA Division II, allowing only 64.24 points per game.
Before arriving at the College of Idaho, Sharp spent the 2013-14 season as the student manager at Boise State.
He began his college coaching career with a wealth of experience, having previously coached at the high school level for 18 seasons, with stints as a freshman, junior varsity and varsity head coach at Bella Vista and Del Campo High’s in the Sacramento area. He also coached the freshmen girls’ team at Mountain View High in Meridian, Idaho to undefeated seasons in 2010 and 2011.
Sharp is a 2014 graduate of Boise State University. He and wife, Dionne, have been married for 28 years and have four children and three grandchildren.
