A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Barnett played his college ball as a QB and WR at Yale University, where he graduated in 2002 with a degree in Political Science.

Since graduating, Barnett has coached and trained quarterbacks all over the nation for 21 years while also running his own businesses, and working as a teacher, business developer, tech recruiter and tradesman.

In 2016, Coach Dilfer invited Barnett to join his coaching staff with the Elite11, and for the past seven years Barnett has had the opportunity to work with some of the best QBs and QB coaches in the nation. Most recently, Barnett was the QB Coach and Passing Game Coordinator at the Academy of the New Church in Philadelphia, Pa., where his team broke every passing record in school history.

Barnett moved to Birmingham in January 2023 to join the UAB staff as the Director of Football Data. He reports to Coach Dilfer and OC Alex Mortensen while trying to find creative ways to use football data to give the Blazers a strategic advantage in every moment.

Barnett is married to his wife Deryn, and they have a one-year old son named Max.
