Nigel Madison enters his first season at UAB in 2026 as the Blazersβ inside linebackers coach.
Madison arrives in Birmingham after spending the 2025 season at Colorado State, where he coached the Ramsβ cornerbacks. Prior to his time in Fort Collins, Madison spent two seasons as the inside linebackers coach at Sacred Heart, helping develop one of the Northeast Conferenceβs top defensive units while gaining valuable experience working with the second level of the defense.
Before joining Sacred Heart, Madison served as a defensive analyst at Oregon in 2022. During his time in Eugene, he helped the Ducks earn a Holiday Bowl victory over North Carolina and gain valuable experience within one of the nationβs premier Power Four programs.
Madisonβs coaching journey has included experience working with multiple position groups across all three levels of the defense. He served as a graduate assistant working with the linebackers at Buffalo in 2021 after spending the 2020 season as a graduate assistant working with the defensive line at FIU.
Madison began his coaching career at his alma mater, Concordia University Ann Arbor, where he coached the defensive line from 2018-19. His experience coaching defensive linemen, linebackers and defensive backs has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of defensive structure and player development.
A native of Detroit, Mich., Madison was a standout defensive lineman at Concordia Ann Arbor from 2013-17 before transitioning into coaching. He earned his bachelorβs degree from Concordia in 2017.
One of the rising young coaches in the profession, Madison has quickly climbed the coaching ranks through successful stops at the FCS, Group of Five and Power Four levels.
